Cheese Straws

Prep Time: 15 Minutes

Cook Time: 10 Minutes   

Ingridients 

100g Plain Flour 

50g Unsalted Butter 

50g Cheddar Cheese 

1 Egg 

Pinch of Cayenne Pepper 

Pinch of Sea Salt 

Method 

  1. Mix the flour, cayenne and sea salt in mixing bowl

  2. Add the butter and rub together until  the mixture has a sandy texture.

  3. Add the cheese and egg yolk, use a cutting knife and make cutting motions through the mixture, slowly bringing the dough together. You may need to add a small amount of water to bring the mixture together, gather the dough together in a ball and put in a fridge for 30 minutes, wrapped in cling film. 

  4. Pre-heat your oven to 200 C. 

  5. Roll out the chilled dough as thin as you wish using a ruler and sharp knife start cutting the dough into straws and use the cut offs to make fun shapes if you wish!!!

  6. Transfer to a non-stick baking sheet.

  7. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden, transfer to a wire rack to cool.
