Sustainable Fishing!!!

This blog post is inspired by a documentary I watched on Netflix called Seaspiracy. The documentary was about how humans are abusing the worlds oceans. What struck me about this documentary was that the same question was asked over and over to organisations who state that they protect the oceans and the fish in it, What is sustainable fishing?When Ali Tabrizi approached the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) they simply refused to speak with him, surely they would want to comment on such an important topic!!!! even though on their website they now have a definition of what sustainable fishing is. I was surprised that the organisations who state they protect the oceans are actually doing nothing about illegal whale hunting, and dolphin hunting.

The other thing that struck me was that any label that stated Dolphin Safe on it could not be verified, it was almost as if they were just stating that so that people would continue to buy the item, but actually when it came down it, how many dolphins had been put at risk or killed, we will never know!!!

Watching these creatures being slaughtered so inhumanely was heartbreaking!!!

This documentary highlighted that our oceans are being targeted simply because someone wants the status of being able to say they have eaten Shark Fin soup, this is not done out of necessity and the need to survive.
