Raspberry Buns

A good old fashion favourite, we have all cooked these at school or with our kids!!!

Prep Time: 15 Minutes 

Cook Time: 10 Minutes 

Bakes 8-10 Buns


Ingredients 

200g Self-raising flour

100g Butter or margarine

100g Caster sugar

1 Tbsp milk

Pinch of salt

1 Egg

Raspberry Jam

 


Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C

  2. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl.

  3. Rub in butter/margarine using your fingertips.

  4. Stir in caster sugar and then make a well in the centre.

  5. Whisk the egg and stir in with a wooden spoon, mix in the milk.

  6. On a floured surface bring the mixture together until a dough is formed.

  7. Roll into a long baton and cut into 8-10 pieces, then roll into balls.

  8. Shape each one into a round bun and place on the prepared baking tray.

  9. Make a hollow in the centre by gently pushing your thumb into the centre and then put the jam in the middle to fill the hole.

  10. Bake for 8-10 mins, until well risen and brown. Cool on a wire rack.
